Tragedy of South Korea's education

Yesterday I read an article about Seoul National University student's death. She commited suicide due to the stress of study in South Korea. While reading the article it made me think more about South Korea education's problems. As a student studying in Korea high school it made me consider a lot about the problems in Korea education system. I thought there were many problems but it all led to one fundamental reason, which was 'studying without goal'. Students in Korea study because they are told to and because it is assumed to be the only way to succeed in the current society. Memorizing the textbooks and sleeping only 4hours a day is still thought to be the road to success. Therefore, students study without considering their goal and aim which can lead to depression after graduation and feelin of burden during schoolyears. Thus, I strongly believe it is crucial for Korean government to focus more on giving students goal and aim to study rather than forcin them to study.

Paul~~ I didn't know if we were suppose to write an essay with paragraphs so I just wrote my opinion after reading an article in the newspapaer.

My opinion on the article:

After reading this article I first thought 'so what if the student rate is decling?' However when I thought once more about why this became an article I recognized that there was a serious issue to handle in this article. Decrease in fertililty rate is a huge issue in the status quo. Korea's population has increased but the student rate has declined, meaning that there are more senior citizens in the society. This may not seem like a big deal now but without students and children it is hard to lead a country into better state because there will be lack of numbers in the labor market. In the 1970s the government tried their best to lower the birth rate and it has succeded, therefore I believe it it the government's role once again to tell the citizens about the importance of increasement in the fertility rate and start a campaign to lead South Korea in to a better country!
